Julie was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in October 2022, only 3 years after surviving a stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis. She has had multiple surgeries and painful biopsies over the years, including a double mastectomy and a bone biopsy. Julie has metastatic breast cancer, which means that it has spread to other parts of her body.

She has metastasis to most of the bones from her spine to her knees. Recently, Julie had an emergency surgery to place a rod in her left femur from her knee to her hip socket because the cancer had taken so much of the bone. She also underwent radiation to that area to help with pain and to slow the growth of cancer there. Julie is currently undergoing chemo, which she will be on continually as long as it is working to keep the cancer from spreading.

Julie is a mother to 4 amazing kids! They are her whole world! The Newton family has moved around a lot, and for the majority of their lives, they have lived in different countries. Julie’s daughters were born in Utah and Texas, and her sons were born in China and Australia. The Newtons grew close as a family during their years abroad, and they love being together: traveling, playing board games, cooking good food- Julie loves living life with her family!

Julie would like to thank you, all of our patrons, for your support! For the Newtons, it feels like a dream to have so many people rally around them, and it’s such a bright spot in their lives during this difficult time!
