Catherine Tanner is a joy and a light to everyone who sees her. She was an art teacher at Eagle Bay Elementary for 6 years and the drama club assistant director for 4 years. She misses both of her jobs so much! Catherine is well- known for her patience, love, selflessness, and humor.

She is extremely positive and always has a joke or story to share with others. Her favorite colors are both reddish orange and green. She loves to eat fresh fruit, seasonal corn on the cob, sushi, and any breakfast foods. Her favorite drink is Chick-fil-A lemonade and ice water, and often can be found snacking on either queso blanco, popcorn, cookie butter, or a warm chocolate chip cookie.

Catherine and her husband, Nathan have been married for 24 years. They have 4 beautiful children. Catherine loves art and painting. She loves bargain shopping and trying to win stuff on the radio. She loves vacationing, especially to any warm beach, loves watching movies and learning random movie trivia. She also likes to sing karaoke, dance and be with friends and family!

Catherine met with a liver specialist at the beginning of June who suggested a liver transplant. After they received the results from the biopsies/MRI it showed that cancer was present in the lymph nodes and the bile duct. This new information eliminated her eligibility for a liver transplant. The doctors, however, are hopeful because her most recent MRI shows a significant reduction in the size of her largest lymph nodes.

At this point in her cancer journey, she has undergone four rounds of immunotherapy and chemotherapy. It has been a roller coaster ride of appointments, emotions and side effects trying to figure out how to keep her ulcerative colitis under control too.

She believes she has the best support system and feels so lucky and humbled by the love and support she has received! To Catherine, hope is joy, hope is faith, and hope is life!
