Addams Family 2022 - Wall of Hope Recipient

My cancer journey has been scary and lonely. My husband of 19 1/2 years left our home in February. I received a double mastectomy in July. My children, my parents, my sister, and my in-laws have been wonderful, but I do miss the comfort a spouse can provide during the sleepless nights and days of bursting into tears, crying for no reason/every reason. I have lost my best friend and lover, and that absence has amplified the pain, nausea, fear and exhaustion.

I hope to beat cancer by strengthening my body. I have always loved ballroom dance, and have recently begun private dance lessons at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. I am planning to enroll in weekly adult ballet classes as well.

In am committed to improving our family’s finances and our new “normal” as a single-parent household in any way I can. I am taking the Income Tax Course through H&R Block and attempting to struggle through an online Data Science course.

My 3 children and I have a goal to move out of my parent’s basement and get our own apartment by Christmas. I hope to create a safe haven of joy and healing for them. I want to minimize their pain and insecurity they’ve felt as a result of this dreaded disease. They are the reason I choose to fight and ultimately overcome breast cancer.
